City of Apples Locations

Working on location is a privilege unlike any other, and through these opportunities, a responsibility to authentically represent the culture in which we are immersed...

Working on location is an undertaking for any department. None of this is more evident than in the case of the Costume Designer and the team they bring with them. A unique challenge arises being far from the safety and comfort of soundstages, costume rental houses, and familiar clothing stores. The Designer is tasked with charting unfamiliar territory. Getting to know the location on a personal level. Building relations with the community, understanding the clothing and more importantly the culture, on a level that most will never be able to relate to. While all of this is an endeavor unlike any other, it grants The Designer access to clothing, jewelry, fabrics, and fabricators that would be impossible to replicate if the production was filming in a location meant to emulate the authentic. The designer doesn’t take on this challenge alone however. With them, they bring a team of trusted costumers who they know will rise to the challenge, and not only adapt to, but thrive in any situation filming on location may bring. Culminating in a final product that will not only transport moviegoers to a new world in which will awe them, but bring a sense of pride to the people of the culture who trust us to respectfully and honestly represent their way of life through costume.
